Effect of Metabolic Shock Induced by 2-Deoxy-D-Glucose on the Murine Immune Response

Abstract

|
This study was undertaken to know the effect to know the effect of glucoprivation, as induced by 2-deoxy-D-glucose(2-DG) administration, on contativity (CH) induced by dinitrofluorobenzene (DNFB), delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH0 induced by sheep red blood cells (SRBC), and antibody formation against SRBC in BALB/c mice. The results showed that single injection induced a pronouce suppression of cell-mediated immunity (CMI) measured by CH and DTH, but did not induce suppression in antibody production. The suppression of CMI induced by 2-DG adminstration was does-dependent, however, repeated injections of 2-DG showed attenuation in it’s suppressive activity of CMI.
